  • One needs to be registered prior to the commencement of the pilgrimage. For successful registration, one has to submit certain documents to the Registration Officer. These include:

  • CHC (Compulsory Health Certificate that deems your health level fit enough to embark on the perilous pilgrimage which has been issued on or after 15 February 2023 by doctors/medical institutions duly approved. Please check the list of authorized institutions that can issue CHC here.
  • 4 Passport sized photos
  • With a duly filled-in application form and a favorable compulsory health certificate, one may approach any of the bank branches authorized with registration for Amarnath Yatra. The list of designated bank branches is provided here.
  • Note that there are two routes to visit the holy cave of Amarnath. One of them passes through Blatal, and the other through Pahalgam. Depending upon your preference, you will be issued a yatra permit that would give you permission to your crossing the access control gates at Baltal or Chandanwari (Pahalgam) alone. Also, the date printed on the Yatra permit would be the only day you will be allowed to make the pilgrimage.
  • The minimum age of pilgrim allowable into the Amarnath yatra is 13. The maximum allowable age is 75. Also, if a woman is more than six weeks into her pregnancy, she won’t be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.
  • One ought to be adequately prepared to undertake the Amarnath yatra successfully. Walking for 4-5 km every day for at least a month before the yatra actually commences is a must. As important as it is to develop physical fitness is to actually be emotionally and mentally prepared for the challenges of the journey.
  • The region is known for its highly unpredictable weather patterns. The weather patterns may fluctuate between sunny, snowy, or rainy hues.   • Usage of polythene and/or plastics is strictly prohibited and would invite legal punishment.
  • If you plan to Travel to Amarnath by Helicopter, know that helicopter services operate from Pahalgam/Baltal to Panjtarni. The rest of the journey involves trekking to the holy cave.
