Why People Do Chardham
As mentioned in the Veda and Puranas the Yatra of the most sacred places of Chardham wash away all the sins of mankind and make pious to them. According to Hindu Veda, the man having no sin got Heaven after death and gets salvation (getting rid of the cycle of life-Death and getting a place near God forever). It is the internal desire of every people to get rid of the attraction of Moh-Maya(Earthy live) & merged with God. But practically it is impossible to remain sinless. For going to heaven it is necessary to live sinless and blessed fully. Darshan and yatra of Chardham of Uttarakhand were first done by Pandvas's brother while going to Heaven after Darshan of these holy places they left their all sins and went to Heaven.
Thus the tradition of Visit Chardham Started. As above discussed practically impossible to be sinless. Then our Vedic Rishi Sages told us the alternative and shortcuts method to become sinless and make our path easier to heaven. Some easy paths to wash away our sins are- Take holy Darshan of the most sacred Dham(Badrinath, Kedarnath, Dwarka, Puri, Rameshwaram, Gangotri & Yamunotri), Taking a bath in the most sacred confluence of Holy divine rivers( like – Five prayag of river Ganges in Uttarakhand) Taking Bath in holy rivers During Mahakumbha which comes every 12 years where Mahakumbh festival held (Haridwar, Nasik, Allahabad, Ujjain). In Purana, the water of the River assumed as very sacred as her water gives life to people and plants, and animals. So bathing at the sacred confluence of two or more holy river washes away your all sins and make your soul, mind, and body more sacred.
